Michelle Obama and Anna Wintour hold first ever Fashion Workshop at the White House

Mrs. Obama said that while the guests — from Parsons The New School for Design, the Fashion Institute of Technology and elsewhere — were lucky to be there, they weren't unique, and success in the highly-competitive industry takes not only clout but determination.

The FLOTUS, who was wearing a dress designed by Fashion Institute of Technology student Natalya Koval, addressed a crowd of young fashion students and reminded them that any idea takes time and risk.

Fashion and the Economy

A "paradigm shift" in how Americans perceive conspicuous luxury means consumers will be less likely to spend hundreds of dollars on trendy items that will go out of fashion after a season, Danziger said.

Still, others may view the practice of seasonally casting off the latest cheap styles as wasteful in this more ecologically conscious, and value-driven world.

The key is in these times: How do you present innovation, value, relevance, even good citizenship? All these things are going on which are reasons to get people to get out of their houses, to get into stores and buy more things to put on their backs.

Furthermore, in a cruel twist, fickle fashion whimsy will demand that wallets be opened wider this fall. It's the time of year that "in" designer styles combat the chill by celebrating rich, luxurious fabrics and tailoring that costs more, not less.

Women may have gotten used to recycling their warm-weather looks from past seasons -- spring and summer fashion has not changed that much, after all -- but come fall, as hemlines drop and pant-legs get wider, a shopping trip may be required.

College Course in what to Wear

Is there really a college course on what to wear to classes to be comfy alongside wearing our opinion. Of course not silly that would be too easy. Allow me to introduce a quick crash course on campus dress etiquette ( mischievous grin insert). Just kidding guys, I'm just going to reference a few things, keep up.

1. Please do not wear high heels everyday, have some shoe awareness. Of course it's perfectly fine to wear heels, but shoe awareness is the ability to pull off any shoe look, it's the ability to shoe shop. On the other hand try not to indulge only wearing flats, imagine that, if all you wear is heels.

2. Relax it's college not a fashion show. Be wise spending your money on items that will cross over. Coming from someone who worked in the mall, I understand how shopping can get you going! Consider stores where it's more for your money and have fun!

3. If your the fashion conscious student I was this next tips for you:
Collect get great things as you go and preserve them. I call them trinkets because they are valuable to me and timeless. Random Thrifting is the best way to find these trinkets and good luck!

Fashion Designer Tips With Kym Q

I think the first question for every person stepping into the field of design is " Where do I start". Not the easiest question to answer but here's a try!

1. Identify your brand objective
2. Educate yourself
3. Match your knowledge and resources     with action

The most important thing you will do is make time for the producing of your product. Your beginning stage will be a large amount of personal  contribution. It's important that you time manage and discipline yourself. You will juggle so many chores to get your fashion business up and running, always keep product production as a top priority.

You are never to old to learn something new. With any craft continued education is crucial to the survival and success of business. In order to stay ahead you must set the standards, in order to set the standards you must know the formulas.

Good luck to you on your journey. Don't give up if fashion is what you really want to do. Fashion is an industry of many opportunities, design, pattern making etc are just a few avenues, learning one aspect of fashion can still be a gateway to extended fashion careers. Do your best and dress your best fashion friends!
